Deputy General Manager

A unique opportunity for the right person…. £28,000pa (plus £2,000pa bonus scheme)

(RiversMeet & Space Inflaters sites run by GCLT in Gillingham, Dorset)                                                      

We have an active, growing and loyal customer/user base and our unique characteristic is that we are run as a charity by the Gillingham Community and Leisure Trust Ltd. (GCLT). The Gillingham Community and Leisure Trust Ltd operates two facilities on behalf of the community as a "not for profit" social enterprise. We are genuinely community-led.

Our aims are pure and simple - a trust that meets the needs of our local community and ensures that a range of excellent and well-maintained facilities remain available to the community for the foreseeable future in order to help build healthier, local communities.

At RiversMeet, we have an extensive gym with an additional training room, a pilates/fitness studio, a large swimming pool, a sports hall, a spinning room and a cafe. At Space Inflaters, we have a large inflatable for soft play and a dedicated café/bar area. The Space Inflater’s site is currently undergoing building work to provide a new state-of-the-art Strength and Conditioning Gym which is planned to open in 2023. We are also investing heavily in renewable energy (e.g. air source heat pumps, LED lighting installed, and a large solar array planned for 2023) in order to ensure that we remain a viable and sustainable enterprise.  Due to our continued growth, we need to strengthen our leadership team – with the addition of a new, Deputy General Manager. We need you to bring enthusiasm, expertise, flair and a genuine desire for hard work. This is a unique opportunity for the right person.

Salary:

  • £28,000 plus £2,000 bonus pa

(a permanent post: Working Hours: Shifts Monday to Sunday CoE hours pro rata)

Catering Assistant

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional person with good customer service skills who really enjoys being part of a team but are also comfortable working independently.

Someone who can make good customer care decisions and take ownership of this important role with confidence. Catering, food preparation, food hygiene or other food catering experience will be advantageous but is not essential as comprehensive training is provided.

Receptionist

The reception team is the first point of contact for our customers. Our Reception Team acts as the central communication link between all users of RiversMeet and the management team.

Duty Manager

As part of our DM Team, you will be involved in the day-to-day running of activities and ensuring the safe facilitation of a multitude of activities ranging from fitness classes to swimming lessons.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional person with good customer service skills who really enjoys being part of a team but are also comfortable working independently. Can make good customer care decisions, actively lead from the front and take ownership of this important role with confidence. Essential: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, 2+ years’ experience in Leisure industry. Desirable: Level 2 industry specific qualification, 3+ years’ Leisure industry experience, Level 2 Fitness instructor, First Aid at Work, Pool Plant Operator, level 3 management qualification.

Salary up to £22,500 according to experience and qualifications based on an average of 37.5 hours weekly. Overtime hours paid at hourly rate in addition. As part of our Fitness Team, you will be involved in the day-to-day running of the Gym facilitating Inductions, classes, creating programs and maintaining gym cleanliness.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional person with good customer service skills who really enjoys being part of a team but are also comfortable working independently. Can make good customer care decisions and who is passionate about health and fitness and can promoted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Essential: Level 2 Fitness instructor, 2+ years’ Desirable: Level 3 Personal Training Qualification, Class instructor qualifications. National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, First Aid at Work.

What we can offer you

Salary up to £19,000 according to experience and qualifications based on an average of 37.5 hours weekly. Overtime hours paid at hourly rate in addition.
