Swim School Coordinator

20 hours per week - £13.54 per hour

Essential: STA Certificate OR ASA Level 2.

Desirable: Baby and Preschool, First Aid at Work, NPLQ/Pool Safety Award

About Us

We are a busy, committed, professional team dedicated to ensuring that our customers enjoy the very best experience from this community owned Leisure Centre. This is an ideal role for an individual who is motivated by managing a team of staff, is sports development focussed and has a keen interest in learn to swim programmes and swimming in general. 

About you

Whether for the development of your career or the belief in a worthwhile role, the satisfaction, pride and personal responsibility you gain from such a key role will be important to you.  A key role, a key challenge, a personal experience. You will need to be flexible and adaptable in your approach to teaching, and your approach to working hours, to suit the needs of the business. You will be responsible for preparing lesson plans and a comprehensive scheme of work that meets the requirements of Swim England Learn to Swim Programme; supervising and mentoring our Assistant Swimming Teachers as required.

You’ll need the natural ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with our customers and potential customers, putting people at ease, with a real “can-do” attitude.

Swimming Teacher

Regular classes, plus cover

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering lessons to suit each swimmer in the class
  • Ensuring safe provision and correct use of all equipment
  • Establishing and making sure that safety standards are followed in every lesson
  • Identifying participants’ abilities and encouraging them to reach their full potential
  • Providing explanations and demonstrating swimming techniques
  • Correcting faults in swimming techniques and identifying ways to improve performance

Essential skills

  • STA Award/Certificate OR ASA Level 1+2
  • Being a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming
  • Setting ground rules for each session
  • Evaluating sessions and giving constructive feedback
  • Regularly assessing each participant’s ability and progress
  • Confidence to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly organised with the ability to multi-task

Pilates & Yoga Instructor

Regular Classes available as well as class cover

Responsibilities include:

  • Playing a vital role in guiding clients towards their fitness goals while ensuring their safety and enjoyment during each session.
  • Leading group classes and providing high-quality instruction.
  • Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for our customers.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as an instructor alongside a relevant qualification is required
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and how it relates to movement
  • Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate exercises to clients of all fitness levels
